DUORANG

Terms of Service

Effective date: August 11, 2026 · Last updated: August 11, 2026

These Terms govern your use of Duorang, the mobile application and related services provided by Keepin Inc. ("we", "us"), and set out the rights and obligations of both you and us.

This is an English translation provided for convenience. The Korean version is the governing text.

1. Purpose

These Terms set out the conditions and procedures for using Duorang, and the rights, obligations and responsibilities of you and us.

2. Definitions

  1. Service — the Duorang application and all related services we provide.
  2. User — a person who agrees to these Terms and uses the Service, as either a "wife user" or a "husband user".
  3. Yuri and Minsu — the AI conversation characters in the Service. Wife users talk with "Yuri"; husband users talk with "Minsu". Neither is a real person; both are independent fictional characters with no connection to your spouse, and neither speaks on your spouse's behalf.
  4. Invitation code — the code a husband user issues and gives to a wife user, used to connect the two accounts (the "couple connection").
  5. Couple chat — the feature through which two connected users exchange messages automatically translated into each other's language.
  6. Video call — a one-to-one video call between two connected users, with real-time translated subtitles and audio.
  7. Pass — the entitlement to use the paid features. A pass is granted to a connected couple, not to an individual account, and has a validity period (Section 9).
  8. Promotional code — a code we issue that grants a pass free of charge for a set period. It is different from an invitation code.

Terms not defined here have the meaning given by applicable law and ordinary commercial practice.

3. Publication and amendment of these Terms

  1. We publish these Terms where you can easily read them, on the initial screen of the Service or a screen linked from it.
  2. We may amend these Terms as long as the amendment does not breach applicable law.
  3. We will announce any amendment, with its effective date and the reason, at least 7 days beforehand — or 30 days beforehand, with individual notice in the app, where the change is unfavourable to you.
  4. If you do not object before the effective date, you are deemed to have accepted the amendment. If you do not accept it, you may terminate the agreement.

4. Entering into the agreement

  1. The agreement is formed when you accept these Terms, apply to join through our process, and we accept your application.
  2. When you sign in with an account for the first time, a consent screen for the Terms of Service and the collection and use of your personal data appears, and sign-up completes only if you agree. If you cancel instead, sign-up does not proceed and that account is deleted. We record the version of the documents you agreed to and the time of agreement; both documents are available on that screen and in the "Me" tab at any time.
  3. You may sign up using a phone number, a Google account or a Kakao account.
  4. The Service is available only to users aged 18 or over.
  5. A wife user needs an invitation code issued by a husband user in order to join.
  6. We may refuse an application, or terminate the agreement afterwards, if:
    • you use someone else's identity or data;
    • you provide false information or omit information we require;
    • you are under 18;
    • your agreement was previously terminated for breach of these Terms; or
    • there are technical reasons or a risk of breaking the law.

5. What the Service provides

We provide the following. The scope may differ depending on your role (wife or husband).

  1. AI conversation — voice and text conversation with Yuri in your own language (wife users) or with Minsu in Korean (husband users), and information about life in Korea and about international marriage
  2. Memory — storing your conversations on your device so that later conversations can build on them
  3. Couple chat — real-time text conversation with your spouse with automatic translation, and sending photos, videos and files
  4. Video calls — one-to-one video calls with your spouse, with real-time translated subtitles and audio
  5. Notifications — new message and incoming call alerts, and the daily reminder you schedule
  6. any other services we develop or provide through partners

Using the Service requires a data connection; any charges for it are payable by you under your mobile operator's terms.

Items 1 to 4 above require a valid pass (Section 9). Even without a pass, you can still sign in, manage your profile, buy a pass or enter a promotional code, sign out and close your account.

6. Nature and limits of the AI features

  1. Yuri and Minsu are fictional characters generated by artificial intelligence and are not real people. They are not created from anything your spouse enters, have no connection to your spouse, and do not speak for them. Some details you enter yourself, such as your age and language, are used only to make the conversation natural.
  2. AI-generated answers, translations and subtitles may be inaccurate or incomplete. Please verify anything important before relying on it.
  3. The Service does not provide or replace professional advice in medicine, law, immigration or psychological counselling. For matters requiring professional judgement, please consult a qualified professional or the relevant authority.
  4. The Service is not a professional interpretation or translation service and must not be used where legal or official accuracy is required.
  5. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness or suitability of AI output, and are not liable for the consequences of relying on it, except where we have acted with intent or gross negligence.

7. Couple connection and privacy principles

  1. Your conversations with Yuri or Minsu, and your memories, are private. They are stored only on your device and are not available to anyone, including your spouse and us.
  2. Couple chat and video calls are two-way communication. Messages, attachments and call content you send are delivered to your spouse.
  3. Status sharing is entirely optional. Where features such as location sharing are offered, they default to off and only the items you switch on are shared. You may stop sharing or end the couple connection at any time.
  4. The Service is not a monitoring tool. No user may check another user's location, status or conversations against their wishes, pressure them into sharing, or change their settings by operating their account or device.
  5. Once the couple connection ends, chat and call features are no longer available.

8. Your obligations and prohibited conduct

You must not:

  1. use another person's identity or account, or register false information;
  2. pressure your partner into sharing location or status without their consent, operate their device or account without permission, or otherwise use the Service to monitor, control or coerce them;
  3. send content that threatens, harasses, sexually abuses, discriminates against or defames another person, or otherwise causes distress;
  4. send or post obscene or violent content, illegal information, or content harmful to children;
  5. infringe copyright or other intellectual property rights;
  6. use the Service for commercial advertising, spam or any purpose other than its intended one;
  7. reverse-engineer, copy or modify the Service, or generate abnormal volumes of requests with automated tools;
  8. overload our servers or otherwise interfere with normal operation of the Service; or
  9. otherwise breach applicable law or these Terms.

You are responsible for looking after your own account credentials. If you become aware that a third party is using your account, tell us immediately and follow our instructions.

9. Passes and shared use by couples

  1. A pass belongs to the couple, not to an account. Two connected users share a single pass: once either of you obtains one, both of you can use the paid features for its validity period. Passes are not granted per account.
  2. A pass can be obtained in two ways:
    • Subscription — an auto-renewing subscription bought through an app store (Section 10)
    • Promotional code — a code we issue, entered in the app
  3. The following applies to promotional codes:
    • Because they are granted free of charge, they are not refundable or exchangeable for cash.
    • Each code has its own usage limit and expiry date; a code cannot be used beyond that limit or after it expires.
    • The period is added on top of any time you already have, so entering a code while a pass is still running does not shorten it.
    • We may revoke a pass obtained or used improperly.
  4. The person who pays and the person who uses may be different. The party to the paid contract is the user who actually paid, and the rights and procedures for withdrawal, refunds and cancellation belong to that user. The spouse simply shares the pass and is not a party to the payment.
  5. If the pass ends, it ends for both of you. When the validity period expires, when a cancelled subscription runs out, or when a pass is revoked following a refund or a reversed payment, your spouse's paid features are locked as well. The paying user should take this into account when deciding to buy, cancel or seek a refund.
  6. Disconnecting a couple is done by the user who issued the invite code. The pass is not lost when you disconnect: it stays with that invite code, and a spouse newly connected with the same code continues using the remaining period. It does not transfer to the disconnected spouse.
  7. The pass ends if the paying user closes their account. Closing that account ends the couple relationship itself, so any remaining period is lost and the spouse's paid features are locked at that moment. Refunds for the remaining period are handled under Section 11. Closing an account is not the same as cancelling a subscription — the paying user must cancel separately in the app store (Section 10.6).
  8. You can check the remaining period of your pass in the "Me" tab.

10. Paid features and payment

  1. We provide paid features as an auto-renewing monthly subscription. The price and renewal cycle are shown on the payment screen. Prices follow the amount your app store displays for your country and currency.
  2. Payment is taken only through Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS). We do not collect or store your card number or other payment details.
  3. A subscription renews automatically each billing period until you cancel it, and your registered payment method is charged automatically at renewal. You can turn off automatic renewal at any time in your app store's subscription settings. How and by when you can cancel follows that store's policy.
  4. Cancelling automatic renewal does not end your current period — your pass remains valid until the period you already paid for runs out, and then simply does not renew.
  5. Where the store grants a grace period, for example because of a payment-method problem, your pass may remain valid during it. The validity of a pass follows the expiry date reported by the app store.
  6. Closing your account is not cancelling your subscription. Closing your account does not cancel the subscription held by the app store, so to stop being charged you must cancel separately in your app store's subscription settings.
  7. We may change prices, announcing the change in advance under Section 3. A new price applies from the billing period following the announced effective date; if you do not accept an increase, you may turn off automatic renewal.
  8. If a minor or a third party pays without the account holder's consent, cancellation may be requested under applicable law and the app store's policy.

11. Withdrawal and refunds

  1. You may withdraw from a purchase within 7 days of payment under the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce.
  2. However, under Article 17(2) of that Act, withdrawal may be restricted to the extent that the paid features have already been used. Because a pass is shared, use by your spouse also counts as use.
  3. Where payment was made through an app store, refunds are requested from, assessed by and paid by that store (Google Play or the App Store) under its policy. We cannot refund the payment directly outside the store; on request we will explain the store's refund process.
  4. If a refund is made, the pass is revoked and your spouse's paid features are locked as well (Section 9.5).
  5. If the Service is unavailable because of our fault, we will refund the corresponding amount or extend your period of use.
  6. Refunds may be restricted where your use has been suspended for breach of these Terms.
  7. A pass granted by a promotional code is provided free of charge and is not refundable.

12. Changes to and suspension of the Service

  1. We may change the Service or discontinue part of it, and will announce significant changes in advance.
  2. We may suspend the Service temporarily where:
    • maintenance, inspection or replacement of equipment is required;
    • there is a power failure, loss of connectivity, natural disaster or other force majeure;
    • an external provider we depend on (cloud, AI or telecommunications) fails or discontinues its service; or
    • there is another compelling business reason.
  3. If we discontinue the Service entirely, we will give at least 30 days' notice and refund any remaining paid period as required by law.

13. Your content

  1. You keep the copyright in the messages, photos, videos and other content you send or upload ("your content").
  2. We use your content only as needed to provide the Service (transmitting, storing, translating, displaying and backing it up), and not beyond that, and we do not provide it to third parties.
  3. We do not use your content for commercial purposes or advertising.
  4. Where content breaches the law or infringes another person's rights, we may delete it or restrict access to it as the law requires.
  5. Photos, videos and files attached to chat are deleted from the server automatically 14 days after upload, to manage storage. Please save anything you want to keep to your own device.
  6. If either partner closes their account, the entire couple chat is deleted, and this applies to your partner's screen as well (Section 14).

14. Termination

  1. You may terminate the agreement at any time using the account closure function in the "Me" tab.
  2. Closing your account immediately deletes the conversations and memories stored on your device and the profile, profile picture and consent record stored on our servers. Deleted data cannot be recovered.
  3. Because the couple chat is a shared space, it is deleted along with your account — messages, attachments and read receipts are all removed, and the conversation also disappears from your spouse's screen. Please save any photos or videos you want to keep before closing your account.
  4. Simply ending the couple connection does not delete the chat history; you can continue it if you reconnect.
  5. Closing your account is not cancelling your subscription. If you subscribe, closing your account leaves the app store's automatic renewal in place and you will continue to be charged, so you must cancel separately in your app store's subscription settings (Section 10.6). Refunds for any remaining period follow Section 11.
  6. We may terminate the agreement, after notice, if you seriously breach Section 8. In urgent cases we may give notice afterwards.

15. Restrictions on use

  1. If you breach these Terms we may warn you, suspend your account temporarily, limit features, or suspend your account permanently.
  2. We will tell you the reason, the duration and how to object before taking such a step, unless there is an imminent risk to the safety or rights of another person, in which case we may act first and notify afterwards.
  3. You may object, and if your explanation is justified we will restore your access immediately.

16. Personal data

We protect your personal data in accordance with applicable law. Details are set out in our Privacy Policy.

17. Limitation of liability

  1. We are not liable where the Service cannot be provided because of force majeure such as natural disaster, war, or failure of a telecommunications or cloud provider.
  2. We are not liable for problems caused by your own actions.
  3. We are not liable for the content of messages or calls exchanged between partners, or for disputes arising from them, unless we are at fault.
  4. We do not warrant the accuracy or reliability of information obtained through the Service, including AI output and translations; Section 6 applies.
  5. Nothing in this Section excludes liability for our intent or gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

18. Emergencies

The Service is not an emergency or crisis service. If you are in danger or need help, please contact:

We cannot read your conversations, so we cannot detect a dangerous situation or intervene.

19. Governing law and disputes

  1. These Terms and any dispute between you and us are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea.
  2. If a dispute arises, we will both try in good faith to resolve it amicably.
  3. If it cannot be resolved, proceedings shall be brought before the court having jurisdiction under the Korean Civil Procedure Act.
  4. If you live outside Korea, this Section still applies, but mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence may take precedence.
